Reducing the carbon footprint: from the obvious to the essential!
We are seeing it more and more every day: climate change is happening. This awareness is not new: for decades, we have all been individually aware of the urgent need to reduce our production of polluting waste. What's new in recent years is that this evidence is gradually becoming a requirement.

Thus, the LOM (Mobility Orientation Law) will gradually (from 1 january 2022) require companies and public authorities to participate actively in reducing our carbon footprint. Among the priority areas is of course the energy transition of vehicle fleets, with the increasing use of electric and hybrid vehicles, shared if possible.
But when it comes to employee mobility, keep in mind that vehicles are not the only option. Although essential in some situations, the vehicle can give way or be combined with other more environmentally friendly means of transport.
How can businesses promote sustainable mobility while reducing the overall cost of mobility? Fortunately, professional mobility 2.0 solutions exist!
Focus on multimodal and sustainable mobility
The “automotive” reflex is no longer... or should no longer be! Yes, we are talking about a real change in mentality that needs to continue and intensify.
To help mobility managers meet this new challenge, professional mobility specialists are constantly innovating to offer efficient and environmentally friendly solutions.
Optimum Automotive, the European specialist in connected vehicles, has designed an innovative mobility solution called “Optimum Mobility”.
Optimum Mobility is based on a unique triptych dedicated to employee mobility:
#1. A management platform:
A true nerve center of professional mobility, the management platform allows managers to monitor, analyze and optimize employee mobility.
- Management of mobility operators
- Expense management and monitoring
- Analysis and reporting tools (TCM³, CSR³, carbon footprint, sustainable mobility package, mobility credit)
- Challenge and motivational tools to encourage the reduction of carbon footprint and costs

#2. A cell phone candidature
The mobile application is available to employees, allowing them to select nearby transport services: train, bus, taxi, private rental vehicle, car rental, scooter rental, bicycle rental, etc.
The mobile application also allows employees to access their own dashboard: summary of expenses and trips, categorization of expenses, individual carbon footprint, etc.
#3. A payment card
Both physical and electronic, the payment card can be used to pay for business trips. All transactions made using the payment card are automatically stored on the management platform.
Sustainable mobility boosted by finances assisting!
Several mechanisms have been put in place to encourage the adoption of sustainable mobility:

#1. The sustainable mobility package:
The sustainable mobility package allows companies to offer their employees a tax exemption budget of €500/year/employee (i.e. 600 euros, including transport allowance) for trips between home and work.
The sustainable mobility package applies to the following modes of transport:
- Bicycle and electric bike (purchase of a bike and its accessories, maintenance, IKV)
- Car sharing
- Rental of shared bikes, scooters and electric scooters
- Carsharing with electric, plug-in hybrid or hydrogen vehicles
- Public transport (tickets and subscriptions are financed by the transport allowance)
#2. The mobility credit:
The mobility credit is an advantage in kind for employees who partially or completely replaces the company car. A sum of money (between €1,200 and €10,200) is thus proposed to compensate for the renunciation of the company car (or the adoption of a smaller electric company car) and allows the employee to finance his personal trips.
It's time to take action!
After a long, long period of reflection, it is time to take action!
Authorities have designed incentives to help businesses cope with this profound change in business travel. For their part, companies specializing in business trips, such as Optimal mobility, have designed innovative solutions to introduce and encourage the adoption of sustainable and environmentally friendly travel.
